Aberdeen 2 - 0 Heart of Midlothian

A gale, blowing right across the field, and drenching showers of sleet prevailed at Pittodrie, and put good football out of the question. Aberdeen faced the hurricane in the first half, and, thanks largely to the policy of the Hearts' attack, which persisted in passing instead of shooting, they were able to keep their end up. A great shot from Mercer deserved to find the net. Aberdeen played differently when they got the wind behind them. They banged the ball about, and shot from all ranges. They netted four times, Anderson, the goalkeeper, beating Black at the other end, with a goal-kick. Offside was given against Ambler, the centre, on that and another occasion. But he had two legitimate points. Aberdeen deserved the win. About 1000 spectators were present.

The gale were up blowing off the sea and right across Pittodrie made the game between Aberdeen and Hearts of Midlothian a one-end the affair. Banks, however, to the individual cleverness of the Edinburgh forwards and the shop persistence of the home attack, it was quite an interesting match, because even against the hurricane raids were frequent in both periods, and invariably invested with danger. Hearts had the benefit of the wind in the first half. They were met by a resolute defence, and half-time came with it still intact. Mercer had a great shot, which beat Anderson and struck the bar, and Sinclair almost caught Anderson napping with a clever hook shot. At the other end Ambler appeared to miss a rare chance. Hearts hung too long to the leather, and got in few shots. Aberdeen played differently and more profitably when they turned round. Backs and halves wanted the leather well into Hearts' territory, and the forwards shot at every opportunity from all ranges. Four times Black had to pick the ball out of the net, but only twice was the a count. First Anderson from a goal kick beat him, the ball bouncing over his head when he went out to meet that. Ambler was offside then, but he got through twice later. Just before the whistle blew Aberdeen had another disallowed. The home forwards were in capital form, Jackson and Cail were splendid at half, and colder and Colman sound and back. On the day's play the points went as they should.
