Dumbarton 1 - 1 Aberdeen

HT Score: Dumbarton 0 - 0 Aberdeen

Div 1 (Old)
Dumbarton scorers: Garry (pen) 12
Aberdeen scorers: Wylie.

28/10/1916 | KO:

The display at Boghead between Dumbarton and Aberdeen was one of the poorest seen there this season. Dumbarton should have scored in the first half, but Lister was well held by Jackson, the Aberdeen centre-half. Scrappy play also characterised the second period, when Garry scored for Dumbarton from a penalty kick, and Wylie sprang a surprise two minutes from time when he headed through from a corner kick.

Colman and Brewster were unable to travel to Dumbarton, and Aberdeen turned out a rather mixed-looking side, with Cail and Robertson in the half-back line. Davie Main was expected as inside left, but failed to appear. Anderson, Calder, and Moir, the Aberdeen rearguard, got a lot to do. Jackson was in great form two, and, with Andersen, was a shining light in the defence. In the second half ambler and Thomson exchanged places, and the Aberdeen forwards were seen two better advantage. Garry scored from a penalty after 12 minutes play, and Wylie equalised just before the whistle blew, heading through from a corner taken by Dobson. Ambler was the best forward.
