OUR UNBEATEN run since October 26th came to an abrupt end at Celtic Park on Friday afternoon, 14th December, when the Reserves were beaten by 4 goals to 1. A Celtic Reserve side paraded 8 recognised first team players who proved too experienced for us. A first class display again by Andy Geoghan and Chic McLelland, another good game by Duncan Davidson' and a tip-top goal by Ian Purdie were perhaps the most pleasant memories of this match. No doubt Ian Taylor was missed in this game. On the brighter side, the young Dons gave a first class display the previous Saturday when they defeated the present leaders, Partick Thistle Reserves by 3 goals to nil.
Walker McCall continues to improve, scoring one goal himself, and having a hand in the other two scored by Ian Taylor. Ian's second one on any other occasion would have brought the house down. I thought Duncan Davidson had his best game yet, in this match, - Andy Geoghan and Chic McLelland again excelling. Also the performance by ex-Reserve Don, George Adams, at Centre-half for Partick Thistle was most refreshing, and home fans applauded his cultured display. What a fight back George has made against all injuries and medical advice to give up the game. May a brighter future lie ahead for him. Our next game will be at Pittodrie park on Saturday, 22nd December, when Arbroath Reserves are visitors. Arbroath have a talented young side and we look forward to a very good game.
