Leith 'A' Trounced At Pittodrie

Aberdeen Reserves Rattle on Eight Goals

There was no scarcity of goals at Pittodrie on Saturday, where the reserve teams of Aberdeen and Leith Athletic met in an Alliance game. Altogether eleven goals were scored, and of these Aberdeen claimed eight to Leith's three.
Superior finishing power gave Aberdeen victory. The Athletic were a smart moving team in the outfield, but when it came to close quarters Aberdeen, although by means perfect, were far ahead.
Nicol, the Leith centre, was the only player who showed any accuracy in his shooting, and had the hat trick. His two goals in the second half were quite well taken, the Aberdeen defence being taken unawares on both occasions.
The Pittodrie side held a big advantage at half-back, all three showing excellent form. Russell, Aberdeen's. newest recruit from Glasgow Ashfield, made a promising debut, and in all probability will develop into a first-rate pivot.

Yorston's Clever Play.

Although Yorston only counted once for Aberdeen, to him goes the credit of the homesters' substantial victory. It was he who created the opportunities, more of which might have been turned to advantage.
Adam and Beattie on the Aberdeen right touched their best form, and proved too much for the Leith defence. Donald had a hat trick, but was not outstanding.
Five minutes after the start Yorston manoeuvred cleverly to open the scoring.
Leith were very weak at goalmouth, and twenty minutes had gone before Cumming made his first save from Turnbull.
Thirty-five minutes after the start Donald increased the homesters' lead, and shortly afterwards Hill from twenty-five yards range notched a third.
Just on the interval Nicol turned a Gallacher cross to account.

Eight minutes after the restart smart work by Adam and Beattie resulted in the latter finding the net. and a few minutes later the same player added a fifth.
Aberdeen were superior, but in a Leith breakaway Nicol netted.
Adam, Beattie, and Yorston took part in a clever movement, which saw Donald beat Boyce. Nicol again eluded the Aberdeen defence in another breakaway, and completed his hat trick.
The homesters took up the running, and Donald and David brought their total eight.
