Hibernian 0 - 3 Aberdeen

Happily the Reserve team quickly regained its momentum after the surprise 2-1 defeat at home by Motherwell when they went to Easter Road and trounced Hibs 3-0.
This fixture had been moved to the Friday night before the two clubs met in the Premier Division and this enabled Ian Porterfield to take a rare opportunity to see the second team in action.
"I was very impressed with what I saw," he said. "It was a very good, hard-working performance in dreadful weather conditions. Everyone in the team played well but I must say young Paul Wright caught my eye as someone who is always going to score goals."
It was Wright who set up the half time lead and as Dons remained on top virtually from start to finish Brian Irvine and Ian Porteous scored the others.
"Although there was a very high wind, driving rain and a heavy pitch the team did extremely well," confirmed coach Teddy Scott. Tommy McQueen made a very good impression on his first appearance back after injury. He looked to have completely recovered from his problems. Neil Simpson also played again and though he had some good patches he is not finding it easy to get his best form and match fitness back but it will come."
Hibs had a very young and inexperienced side with only three or four names that were well known to Dons who were always going to win this fixture with plenty to spare.
Wright's goal was his ninth for the Reserves this season. Brian Grant, one of the second team's scoring pace setters earlier in the season has earned the appropriate reward for his efforts getting to the fringe of the first team. Since the new manager clearly does not believe in making constant changes Grant's promotion to the senior squad is an important piece of progress for him.
