First Defeat For Aberdeen 'A'
Against Leith Athletic at Logie Green, in an Alliance fixture, A were defeated by 3 goals to 1. This is the Pittodrie team's first defeat of the season. Aberdeen A were early on the offensive, but Bernard and McAndrews defended well. The Leith attack came into play, and Lindsay tested McSevich with a low shot. A couple of corners fell to Leith, but both were cleared. The visitors then took up the thread of attack, Steel having to save from Love and Yule. At the other end Orr shot past, and McSevich had twice to save from Lindsay, who later was injured and had to leave the field. McNeill hit the cross-bar, for Ritchie to head clear. In an Aberdeen attack Steel saved from Love and Yule shot over. Three minutes before the interval Laidlaw opened Leith's account from a scrimmage. On the resumption Leith were early dangerous. A foul against Aberdeen, taken by Reid, hit the upright, Laidlaw fastening on and scoring. Leith continued to press, and Muir, slipping with the ball in possession, Lindsay pushed over to Young, who added a third. A mistake by a Leith back let in McFarlane, who scored a nice goal. There was no further scoring. Near the close Yule, the Aberdeen outside left, was ordered off.
