St Johnstone pushed hard at the outset and came close to scoring on a couple of occasions including one where they hit the bar, but Aberdeen tightened up at the back and took charge in 17 minutes when they opened the scoring. They were two goals up at half time thanks to Nicky Low who scored both - one of them was a superb free kick.
In the second half Aberdeen took control and Jordon Brown got the third. More goals followed with Stephen O'Neill and Scott Rumsby both get on the scoresheet after netting from close range and then Cammy Smith scored late on to make it six. In the end it would have been no surprise had the Young Dons finished with a higher scoreline such was their second half domination, but the small crowd was pleased to have seen a good afternoon's work.
