Aberdeen 4 - 0 Fraserburgh

Had the Fraserburgh forwards been a little less erratic in the vicinity of the goal in their encounter with Aberdeen in the final of the County Cup at Pittodrie on Saturday, the disparity in the score would not have been so great. Aberdeen fully deserved their win, though the measure of their superiority must not be gauged by the result of 4 goals to nil in their favour.
The spectators saw one or two flashes of the old-time Miller. The centre forward excelled in taking up position, and the second of his two goals was one of the cleverest seen at Pittodrie for some time. Completely deceiving the two backs by slipping the ball between them and racing round them, he was left with only Shields to beat, and he gave the custodian no earthly chance with a hard drive.
As Aberdeen did the bulk of the pressing their first half, they deserved to be two goals ahead at the interval; in fact, the visitors had to thank Shields that their arrears were not greater. Of the first twenty minutes of the second, period, however, a different tale has to be told. From the restart, Fraserburgh set out with determination, and Lawrie was kept continually active, although he never had a dangerous shot to deal with. The visiting forwards always did well until near the home goal, their efforts to find the net being weak and often wild. The nearest they came to scoring was when Lawrie, well out of his goal, cleared weakly to Hutchison's toe, and the inside right shot first time. The goalkeeper, however, managed to get back to his charge in time to save a ball that looked like finding the net.
McBoyle scored a great goal. Securing the ball within the circle, he beat the two backs in a sprint, and from close in registered Aberdeen's third point. A short time later Mutch added the fourth. Shields had no chance of saving either goal. Throughout the whole game he gave a splendid display, and although Lawrie kept his charge intact, he was the busier man in the second half. Birnie, Duthie, and Turner composed smart left wing, and "Sandy"' Grosert was hard put to cope with them. Watt being more or less at sea.

After the match the trophy was handed over to the winners by Mr Robert Hunter, president of the Aberdeenshire and District Football Association, Alexander Findlay accepting on behalf of the Aberdeen club.
