Aberdeen "A" accomplished a smart performance at Ayr, where, under Scottish Alliance auspices, they defeated the United Reserves by 2 goals to 0 - their best away performance of the season. Facing the wind in the first half, the Pittodrie defence, Lawrie, Bruce, and Wallace in particular, gave a sterling display. Midway through the period, while the home backs were claiming "offside," Moir ran through to shoot the only goal of the period. In the second stage, the Aberdeen half-backs kept a firm grip of the home forwards, and the United goal was repeatedly assailed. Clever combination by the Aberdeen forwards resulted in Mutch sending in a hard drive, which the goalkeeper only partially cleared, and before he could recover Moir had the ball in the net. Outstanding for Aberdeen were Lawrie, Wallace, Watt, McLeod, Moir, Swan, and Grant, and for the United McDonald, McMillan, Rae, Muir, and Low.
