Reserves Beat The Leaders

In a Scottish Alliance fixture at Pittodrie. Aberdeen A defeated St Mirren A, the league leaders, by 2 goals to 1. Their victory was well merited. The home ream had Dick, their latest capture from Royal Albert, on view at outside right. Much was expected of him, but throughout the whole game he was practically "starved," and seldom got an opportunity to show his abilities. On the few occasions that he did get the ball, he parted with it to good advantage, but he never had an opportunity of really showing whether he is a winger or not, and it would be invidious to attempt to criticise his play. The outstanding feature of the game was the fine display given by Duggins at centre-forward. At his request he was given the pivotal position, and he showed up far better than at outside-left. He had both the goals scored by his side, and these he got by being ever on the alert and rushing in when the backs made a slip. He left nothing to chance and continually harassed the visiting defence. In addition he also showed that he knows where the net lies, and had it not been for Hilligan's good goalkeeping he might have had the "hat-trick. " In one word, Duggins was a success. Moir, who was transferred to right-half, did not seem at home in that position, and although he did his best, he is not a right-half. Mutch seems to be getting better every game, and showed some clever touches on Saturday. He was one of the successes of the forward line. McLeod was the outstanding half-back. He kept a good hold on Robertson, and prevented him on more than one occasion from adding to the score. The game from start to finish was a fast one, and was one of the best Alliance games seen at Pittodrie for some time. The visitors were leading 1-0 at half-time, but, as stated, Duggins netted twice for the Dons in the second half.
