Reserves Win At Montrose

Roughness marred the play between Montrose and Aberdeen A in the return Eastern League on Links Park, which the Dons won by 2 goals to 1. Fifteen minutes from time two players got into grips and the game was held for a few minutes, but the spectators anxious to witness any pugilistic exhibition that might ensue were kept clear of the pitch, which at one time threatened to be invaded.
Aberdeen opened the scoring twenty minutes from the start, a judicious cross by Moir being accepted by Robertson, who merely tipped the ball into the net off a head shot. There was a display of temper before the interval, when Montrose were pressing hard for the equaliser, and after several narrow escapes J. Hogg, picking up cross from his brother at centre-forward, flashed past the backs and outwitted Lawrie, who came out in an attempt to intercept him. Three minutes from the re-start Smith gave the Aberdeen the advantage again and this they retained to the finish, giving all over the smarter exhibition. There was not a passenger in the visitors, but Montrose were at times tardy in clearing, while Hogg, at centre-forward, neither did himself nor his wings justice.
