Aberdeen Out Of 2nd XI Cup Competition
Aberdeen said "good-bye" to the Scottish Second XI. Cup competition yesterday, when in the semi-final the Pittodrie 'A' succumbed to Albion Rovers by 3 goals to 1. The weather was showery, and the attendance was most disappointing.
John White was a great source of trouble to the Aberdeen defence, but Blackwell proved a veritable stonewall. Young and John White were each responsible for deadly shots which the Aberdeen keeper saved. Fisher had the first try for Aberdeen. Rovers' pressure was bound to tell, and when John White beat Blackwell after he had stopped a header from Young, the point was well overdue. The visitors' forwards made little headway, and the Rovers' keeper was a spectator.
Resuming, Aberdeen gave a greatly improved display, and their forwards moved with method and freedom. After several dangerous raids on Britton's charge, Bainbridge sent in a great shot, which completely beat the Rovers' custodian. Excitement was high after Rovers played with great vigour, and John White, with a shot of the cannonball order, gave the Rovers a second goal. Blackwell having no chance whatever to save. Near end Chalmers scored a third.
