FINE DISPLAY BY ABERDEEN

THE Dons beat Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle and gave one of their brightest displays of the season.

They were more workmanlike and solid than the Hearts. Their tackling was more keen and successful and the play of the forwards was always convincing.
The Dons are now fourth on the League table, but relatively they are a point above both Celtic and Motherwell, who are equal with eighteen points.
To George Johnstone must be given great credit for a magnificent display in goal. He had two superlative saves in the opening five minutes. Failure on his part then might have meant defeat for the Dons, who afterwards went on to play footballof a highly attractive and telling nature.
Cooper was the outstanding back afield. McKenna worked very hard. Dunlop was tremendous at centre-half. Taylor and Bremner at wing half completed a trio who on the day's play were vastly superior the opposing half-backs.
In attack, Pattillo had his best game of the season. Baird showed improvement from the previous week, and Armstrong kept Baxter fully occupied. Williams took a lot of watching, while Kiddie was unlucky not to score with two terrific drives.
For Hearts, Brown, McClure, Baxter, Macfarlane and Conn were best.
Aberdeen's scorers were Pattillo and Williams.
