Western Province 1 - 1 Aberdeen

South African Tour
Aberdeen scorers: Cheyne.

26/05/1927 | KO: 15:45

The First Match.

Next day, that was May 26, played our first match, which was against a select team from the Western Province. The result was a draw, but I think, along with their own committee, that it flattered them. Our boys had them dizzy in the first half with our passing, and the footwork of Bob McDermid and Alec Cheyne (who scored) always had them guessing. The opposition, however, were full of running. They drew level after the interval and were delighted with the result. We play them again Saturday, and they expect a bigger gate. There were about 7000 spectators at the match. That is not bad for Cape Town, which is a Rugby stronghold.
Our party are all in excellent health and thoroughly enjoying the tour.
