Aberdeen 1-0 Dundee
ABERDEEN came out on top in a fiery friendly with Dundee at Glebe Park on Tuesday afternoon. The behind-closed-doors friendly saw the Dons field a strong squad which included striker Tommy Wright and trialist Maurice Ross.
Scott Bain was in goal with Maurice Ross at right back, Jonathan Crawford and Joe Shaughnessy in central defence and Stirling Smith at left back. In midfield Chris Maguire was wide right with Sone on the left. Derek Young was partnered in the middle of the park by Hallur Hansson. Upfront were Tommy Wright and Darren Mackie.
Wright, making his first appearance since pre season, put in a good shift and managed to play for 70 minutes while Ross, a free agent after returning from Turkish football, looked comfortable and impressive throughout his 90 minute run out. The Dundee side included former Dons captain Darren Young and keeper Derek Soutar.
Darren's brother Derek, Chris Maguire and Sone Aluko also played in the match with the latter setting up the decisive strike just two minutes from the end. Substitute Mitch Megginson showed great composure inside the area to slot low past Soutar. Youngsters Shaughnessy, Bain and Hansson all had fine games.
After the match Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee confirmed he hopes to conclude a deal for Maurice Ross in the coming days.
