Young Dons blown away by well

The young Dons suffered a narrow defeat at Balgownie after failing to recover from a poor first half performance. Motherwell opened the scoring in the 14th minute when a corner was only half cleared. The ball was played back into the danger area and steered into the net from close range. The visitor?s netted again two minutes before the interval and again it came from a set play. A corner kick was poorly defended allowing Motherwell to double their advantage with a header from close range.

The Dons improved in the second half and managed to pull a goal back when Paton challenged the keeper as Bruce flighted in a cross. The ball fell to Stuart Smith and he knocked it into the back of the net. The Dons were enjoying more possession now but they were unable to break through again despite carving out several chances.
