darren double clinches win

Aberdeen sent out a strong team tonight for Martin Pirie's testimonial match at Borough Briggs. A goal in either half from Darren Mackie gave the Dons a 2-0 win.

The first goal came after only 4 minutes when Michael Hart played the ball to him. He cut in from the left and hit a superb shot from 22 yards into the top hand corner.

Despite being on top throughout the Reds had to wait until the 81st minute before making the game safe. Tosh played a through ball to Mackie and the striker showed composure as he finished the chance.

In the second half Jimmy Nicholl gave all the substitutes a game, allowing a number of the Dons promising youngsters a chance to play in the senior side.
