The opening goal of the game came in the 26th minute when ROBBIE WINTERS. Rowson found Derek Lilley who crossed for the striker, and he did the rest - finding the net with an outstanding header. Stavrum had an earlier chance but his shot was closer to row Z than the top corner.
A St Johnstone corner three minutes later fell to Paul Kane, he got the ball to Darren Dods, and the big defender put it past Jim Leighton to make it 1-1.
Robbie Winters found David Rowson, the Dons youngster found Stavrum who tried his luck, but his shot was off target. St Johnstone came back into with Kieran McAnespie coming particularly close with a long-range effort, but he couldn't beat Leighton.
The home side nearly made it 2-1 with only five minutes left, the corner came over, and John O'Neill headed the ball off the crossbar, with Derek Young clearing off the line moments later.
St Johnstone picked up the three points, when ex-Aberdeen midfielder Paul Kane all but ended the Dons season, with a low drive through the legs of ex-Scotland international Jim Leighton, latching on to a knockdown from ex-Wigan striker Graeme Jones.
