After a tentative opening Aberdeen broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. Deloumeaux won a corner kick after a fierce drive was deflected wide. Morrison delivered a deep ball and Phil McGuire rose to head back across goal finding Diamond who turned the ball into the net. Two minutes later the Dons doubled their advantage when Tiernan played a defence splitting pass that released Mackie. The striker showed great composure before slipping the ball past the helpless Montgomery.
Both sides carved out early chances in the second period with the visitors gaining the upper hand as the game progressed. Young David Hutton made several fine stops as Livi turned up the heat and Scott hit the cross bar in the 80th minute as the Dons desperately tried to hold on to their slender advantage. In a hectic finish Livi went for broke as they piled men forward in search of the equaliser. The Dons defence held firm however to collect a welcome three points.
