Ten men Dons battle to victory

A stunning goal from Kevin Souter and an inspired display by keeper David Hutton helped the Dons Under 18's win the Youth Cup final dress rehearsal at Pittodrie this afternoon.

Richard Buckley put the home side ahead in 15 minutes, driving in a 10 yard shot after Richard Foster's cross was deflected into his path.

Foster saw red just before the interval after passing a comment to the referee but the young Dons simply pulled their sleeves up higher and battled harder to give themsleves the perfect lift before facing Celtic in the Cup final at Perth in a fortnight's time.

Despite severe Celtic pressure, David Hutton refused to be beaten until the 75th minute when Michael Gardyne netted from close range.

Far from being downhearted at the goal, the Dons roared back into the lead three minutes later when Kevin Souter netted with a spectacular long range shot.

Celtic battled right to the end and Craig Higgins produced heroics to head a net bound rocket shot off the line to emphasise it was Aberdeen's day.
