Dons U21's lose three in a row

A couple of defensive blunders by the Dons helped Hearts to a comfortable victory at Pittodrie tonight. It was a poor performance by the young side with only the experienced Ben Thornley looking the part. The visitors took an early lead following a poor clearance by Peat before Thornley pulled one back for the Dons. A goal either side off half time put Hearts in the driving seat and the Dons never looked like recovering.

After an uneventful opening, Hearts went ahead in the 8th minute following a poor clearance by Mark Peat. Weir collected 30 yards out and a diagonal ball found Davidson free on the right. The striker then had a simple task of rolling the ball into the empty net. The Dons responded in the 16th minute when a Carella cross found Thornley. The Englishman stepped inside and fired the ball past Windrum.

Disaster struck the Dons in the 42nd minute when Hedderman turned a McCann cross into his own net to give the visitors a half time lead. They almost extended that lead a minute later, but were prevented by a goal line clearance. The visitors did extend their lead three minutes after the restart. A short free kick was fired past Peat from 20 yards to give Davidson his second of the night.

Davidson grabbed his hat trick with a great strike in the last minute. This result leaves the U21 side with only one point from a possible twelve.
