Penalty Claim

Near the end of the first half at Cathkin Park last Saturday a corner was conceded by the Dons. As the ball was kicked behind there was a crash of bodies as two Dons collided with the onrushing home forward. There were loud and insistent yells for a penalty from the spectators but the referee on duty had the strength of his convictions and rightly stuck to his decision. How often have we seen similar incidents where the official has shown weakness by granting the extreme award: It would be interesting to find the number of times the decision goes in favour of the home side compared to the visitors.

Dons Down

The Dons made many friends at Cathkin by their sporting display - but that doesn't help to improve their league position! The forwards can be faulted for throwing away chance after chance - usually with a very bad pass as they neared the "enemy's" penalty line. That was all the more irritating since the moves up to the "box" at times were brilliant. The defence played well in the first half but were at fault with the second half goals, both of which should never have been scored. Glasgow centre was blanketed by fog but visibility at Cathkin wasn't too bad.
