It was, suggested in last week's programme that the Brockville playing surface might not be at its best - and that was no exaggeration! The district had had rain for nearly a week and on Saturday it poured all day long. The ground simply couldn't absorb all that moisture and the game had hardly got under way when, with the exception of the "wings," the ground was a quagmire. Under such conditions, good play could not have been expected - but the spectators got a very pleasant surprise. There were admittedly some amusing incidents when the ball would stick in the mud - sometimes the players, too! But throughout there was a lot of first class football, especially from Aberdeen. It was a test of stamina besides skill and the Dons came through with flying if somewhat muddied colours.
