Aberdeen 2 - 2 Celtic

The addition of two first-class wing halfbacks might not change the Dons into a championship team but it would undoubtedly make a world of dilference.
If ever Aberdeen should have won a game it was against Celtic on Saturday. What greater incentive could they have asked than two-goal lead in the first twenty-one minutes?
They would almost certainly have broken their duck on Saturday had Harris and Wallace produced the same bright constructive ideas as Evans and Baillie.
In this department lay the big difference between the teams. Baillie's play at left half had an international flavour about it. Both he and Evans had the ability to come through with the ball.
Wallace had a better game than his team-mate. There is a promise about the play of the former Banks o' Dee lad, but unfortunately he is not likely to be available after he reports for National Service.
The Dons forwards created a more favourable impression against Celtic. They seemed to be imbued with more enthusiasm and dash. The weakest link in the line was Yorston. It appeared on Saturday that the harder he tried the less successful he was.
Hay and Hather struck up a lively partnership and nobody could have chased success with more determination than Hamilton. Boyd, too, had his moments.
Their spirit was not enough to achieve success without better support from the rear.

Makeshift

To me, full backs Fallon and Rollo were only makeshift forwards. Neither anpeared to be completely comfortable as attackers. All the more credit to Celtic for their fight back after the loss of the two goals.
The irrepressible Charlie Tully was in trouble again on Saturday, when he had his name taken. What a pity the Irishman with the educated feet marred grand display this incident.
