THE Dons were deservedly beaten at Tynecastle yesterday evening. The score 4-1 in no way exaggerates Hearts' superiority.
Thev were a smarter team than Aberdeen, faster, more mobile and more cohesive in attack.
The 1-0 score at the interval was not a true representation of their territorial superiority.
The Dons fought stubbornly in the opening period, although they had their brighest spell during the first ten minutes of the second half.
When Conn increased the Edinburgh team's lead thirteen minutes alter the restart, the issue was decided.

ONLY three Aberdeen players made their mark in this game. They were Martin, Harris, and Shaw. But for the confident handling of the 'keeper Hearts would have won a more substantial margin.
Harris was in energetic mood. He was strong in the tackle and enterprising in attack. Shaw played with more confidence against Sloan than he has done for several weeks.

THE Pittodrie attack did not compare favourably with Bauld and company.
The Hearts' front line was clever and ingenious. Their main fault was that they could not translate their smart approach work into goals. Their solitary counter in the first half came from Bauld six minutes from the interval.
Cumming on the left, beat Emery and when he sent the ball into the middle along the ground, the Hearts' leader was able to walk it into the net.
Thirteen minutes after the start of the second half Conn and Bauld cot cracking on the left. The inside right suddenly hit a fierce drive and the ball appeared to strike Shaw on the head on its way into the net.

WITH twenty-three minutes played, Conn scored again.
He sent the ball hurtling past Marlin from fifteen yards. Wardhaugh made the opening. Baird was the man who scored Aberdeen's goal. When Yorston sent Pearson away on the left, the inside man was in position to head the winger?s cross into the net.
Two minutes later, Sloan crossed from the right and Bauld headed the ball down for Wardhaugh to find the net off the post.

Aberdeen did not distinguish themselves in this game, and if they mean to finish in third placethey will have to win their last game against Third Lanark at Cathkin on Saturday week.
