DONS' RECORD WIN. Great Display By Forwards. CLYDE SWAMPED.

It is a long time since Aberdeen had such an easy victory in a Scottish League game. The home men did not deserve to win by eight goals to one, but nevertheless they were by far the better team. Probably the fact that Aberdeen registered three goals in ten minutes had an unsettling effect on the Clyde players. At any rate, they were never able to recover from this early shock, and Aberdeen's victory was easily achieved. The Clyde defence was principally to blame for the heavy downfall. Stevenson should have saved three of the goals, while Blair and Smith were by no means certain at back. Gibson was a very moderate centre-half, and of the forwards Boyd was a willing and able leader, but was poorly supported. Rankin and King were triers.

Aberdeen concluded their League programme with a ridiculously easy victory over Clyde at Pittodrie, the visitors being defeated by 8 goals to 1.

About 9000 spectators enjoyed a refreshing display by the winners. An early goal gave them confidence, and they were never in danger of losing their grip. The play of the forwards and half-backs was exceptionally fine, Love and McLean on the wings rising to great heights at times, and the play of the half-backs was magnificent.
Clyde put up a better fight than the score would suggest, but there was not the same balance about them. Their backs could not cope with the speed and trickery of the Aberdeen forwards, and their half-backs were kept too busy defending to be of much assistance to their colleagues in front.
Boyd at centre-forward was a clever leader, and was well supported by Smith (J.) and King on the left. The right wing never got going, however.

Three Quick Goals.

The game was only three minutes old when Aberdeen took the lead. McLean essayed a shot, and the ball rebounded from a defender to Yorston, who netted, from close quarters. Another followed after eight minutes, when Love accepted a pass from McDermid to leave Stevenson helpless, and before Clyde could recover they got another shock. Love cut in to finish with a powerful drive, and the ball struck Smith (M.) and glanced into the net.
With a lead of three goals Aberdeen did not slacken off, and they got a fourth goal when, from a flag kick by McLean, the ball was deflected through by a defender. Subsequently Yorston twice hit the crossbar.
Clyde made several spirited rallies on the left, but these petered out, and Aberdeen went further ahead. After Stevenson had deflected a great shot by Yorston for a corner, the home centre-forward rushed to kick the ball out of the keeper's hands into the net.

One for Clyde.

Another Clyde rally ensued, and following King's corner kick Boyd sent into an empty goal. Just on th« interval McDermid met a return from a defender to put on sixth goal for Aberdeen, who were immensely superior.
With such a margin dividing the teams the second period was robbed of much of its interest. Aberdeen obviously slackened off, but even so they held the whip hand, and were not seriously troubled to maintain their advantage.
Early on the home team got a seventh goal. McLean turning through a great centre by Love. Clyde's worries were added to when Gibson was injured and had to retire. He resumed later at outside right, but ultimately was forced to go off for good.

A Penalty.

Aberdeen took matters easy, but they got another goal when Love converted a penalty kick after McLean had been fouled. It was Aberdeen's record win of the season.
