U18s defeat Dundee

Dundee 0 Aberdeen 2

Aberdeen U18s are still unbeaten this season after a professional performance against Dundee this evening in Tayside.

Barry Robson's side started the game very strongly and Michael Dangana could have netted in the first couple of minutes. Defender Kyle Dalling also had a decent chance as Aberdeen continued to play well.

They were rewarded for their early efforts when they took the lead after quarter of an hour. Winger Lewis Duncan, who caused Dundee problems all evening, did really well and put over a great cross which picked out Kevin Hanratty at the back post and he found the net to give the Dons youngsters a deserved lead.

After that, credit to Dundee as they came back into the game and made life different for the visitors. The rest of the half became a midfield battle.

Aberdeen again started the half strongly after the interval, creating a couple more chances and won a penalty after fine work by Michael Dangana who was taken down inside the area. Connor Barron stepped forward to take it but for the first time this season he failed to convert when keeper Harrison Sharp, who used to be with the AFC Youth Academy, made a fine save.

However credit to the skipper who kept driving his side on, and after 65 minutes Aberdeen did manage to get a vital second goal when Michael Dangana produced a smart finish. The striker, along with Lewis Duncan, were the pick of the Dons youngsters tonight.

After that Dundee pushed hard to try and get back into the game and although they had a few encouraging moments from their point of view, the Dons defence stood firm to record a clean sheet.

Next Friday the U18s are at home to Rangers in the league, a repeat of the recent SFA Youth Cup semi-final. Kick off at Cormack Park is at 4.00pm.
