Tale Of Missed Penalties

YOUNG COWIE PLEASES WITH PERTH RESERVES

This Scottish Reserve League game was a tale of missed penalties, and one of the misses had a distinct bearing on the result. With the scores at one all, Aberdeen Reserves were in the ascendancy, but Warnock missed a penalty kick and this seemed to unsettle the side, and midway through the second half the homesters held a 5-1 lead.
A penalty miss by Lorimer for the homesters was the first incident, but later Cameron beat Kelly. Taylor equalised smartly, and then came Warnock s miss. Goals by Robbie and Mason, from a penalty, put the homesters in a good position.
Kelly was a hero in the visitors' goal, but he had the misfortune to help free kick by Mason into the net. Cameron " walked " the ball into the net for fifth goal. In an Aberdeen revival in the closing stages Brady and Hume netted to give the score a more respectable look.
For the homesters, Mason excelled, his long experience being valuable asset. They also had good service from Hunter, Duff and Cameron.
Kelly was Aberdeen reserves' outstanding player and he had many fine saves. The half backs worked hard, but in attack Taylor suffered from lack of support.
