Fighting Spirit Does It

Aberdeen' A' Defeated by 5-2

This Alliance game at Cathkin showed very clearly what a team possessed of a fighting spirit can accomplish. Even when they were piling on the goals the second half Third Lanark never moved with the cohesion of the Aberdeen boys. But Aberdeen lacked the necessary "devil," an attribute the Warriors possessed in full measure.
This superior fighting spirit revealed itself in the first half when Third Lanark pulled the visitors back to level pegging, and was simply irresistible after the interval when they levelled matters for the second time and went on to pile up a 5-2 victory.
Aberdeen were well served in attack by their three inside men, but Lang did little of note on the left touchline, and Taylor was an obvious misfit on the right, although, strangely enough, each had a goal.
Gavin had an energetic afternoon in looking after Morrison, Thirds' centre risking everything to get at the ball no matter the circumstances. His hat-trick reward speaks for itself.
Temple and Urquhart were inclined to get panicky under Thirds' forward rushes, which led to bad marking round their goal. Johnstone, despite the "nap" call against him, was a sound 'keeper, his timing and punching being a feature of an always enjoyable game.
Gallacher revealed flashes of his brilliance as individualist and secured couple of good goals.
