Young Dons Unlucky At Perth

Handicapped by Injuries to Conwell and Devers

Aberdeen A were unfortunate not to share the points in their Alliance game with the St Johnstone colts at Muirton Park. They were handicapped by injuries to Conwell and Devers, who had to go off for a time in the second half.

In the early stages the visitors were prominent, and clever play on the right spelt danger to the home goal, but Donald sent past. Keeping up the attack, the Young Dons had the defence in difficulties, but they failed to score. Play was more even after this, and in a St Johnstone raid before the interval Walker scored what proved to be the only goal of the game.
Resuming strongly, Aberdeen A kept the visitors in their own territory for a time, but they could not find the net, and towards the finish the Perth reserves came more into the picture. They played well in the outfield, but when it came to finishing their efforts were decidedly weak, and Westland, the Youn Dons' 'keeper, was not seriously troubled.
Best for St Johnstone A were Smith, Taylor, Duncan, and Walker, and for Aberdeen A Donald, Gavin, Conwell, and J. Westland were prominent.
