Greatly Improved Display at Dens Park.
Aberdeen gave a greatly improved display against Dundee "A" at Dens Park and took away both points. They took command of the game midway through the opening half, and at the interval had established a three-goal lead. Although the homesters accounted for most of the pressing in the second half, they could only score once, and the Young Dons retired worthy winners. Opening play favoured Dundee, but in the Dons' first attack Moore almost counted. Minutes later the Irishman did get the ball in the net, but the point was disallowed for offside, while at the other end Cochrane just missed after a fine individual effort. The Young Dons took the lead in twenty minutes, Adam getting the ball in the net. Devers made it two after a slip by Lamb, the home goalkeeper, and just before the half-time whistle Adam brought the total to three. Dundee A made determined efforts in the second half, but could only score once, through Newman. An injury to Donald caused Aberdeen to rearrange their team, the right half changing places with Johnston. Best for Aberdeen A were Gavin, Devers, and Adam, while for Dundee A Smith, T. Russell, Cochrane, and Newman (at outride left) did well.Source: Press & Journal,1st October 1934
