Sparkling Display By Aberdeen A

Two Grand Headers by Armstrong Find Net.

Another sparkling display was served up by Aberdeen A in their Alliance League fixture with St Johnstone A at Pittodrie. Playing with a strong breeze behind them, the homesters attacked almost incessantly in the first half, but the Perth side put up such strong resistance that they were only a goal behind at the interval. Armstrong secured the point with a daring header off a Johnston centre. The visitors seemed to have a real fighting chance of pulling through on the resumption, but another headed goal by Armstrong off a Johnston square within a minute was a stiff set-back. When Gall ran through to add to the home total there was no dubiety as to the result.

Not Net-Finder.

Saints hammered gamely away in the closing minutes, but there was not net-finder among them. The Young Dons were well served in all departments. Gavin, who dropped back to right back in place of Jackson, was a tower of strength in defence. O'Reilly and Anderson shone most in a steady mid-line, and in an enterprising attack, Armstrong was a real live-wire. Smith gave a capital display in the visitors' goal. Welsh was the better back, and Ireland dominated the centre of the field. McDonnell, Fulton, and Caskie caught the eye most in an attack which missed several great scoring chances
