Alliance League Leaders Fall

Aberdeen A thoroughly deserved their fine victory over the Alliance League leaders at Pittodrie.

The Parkhead men played clever football all through, but their forwards could not finish. Buchan, Dunn, and Crann all missed good chances after Armstrong and Adam had given the homesters the lead in the first half. Generally, play was evenly divided, with the more purposeful side deservedly finishing on top.
The young Dons' defence put in a good afternoon's work. Cumming was safe in goal and held several point-blank drives in brilliant style.
He was adequately protected by Jackson and Sharp, who were ever on the alert. Good defensive work was also done by O'Reilly at centre-half, and in the wing half positions Donald and Anderson were effective.
The home attack took their chances. Armstrong never ceased worrying the defence, and he received excellent support from Robertson and Adam. Cruickshank, a Turriff junior on trial, got few opportunities to shine at outside left,, but put across some telling centres. On the opposite wing Love did a lot of useful forcing work.
Celts were best served by their defence and half-back line. Geatons, the first team player, dominated the mid-line. In a smart attack which disappointed near goal, Buchan, Dunn, and Kinnaird, the latter on trial from Inverness Caley, were most prominent.
