Young Dons Go Down At Fir Park

Weak Finishing in Shield Game.

WYLIE'S GOALS BRING FULL REWARD.

Aberdeen A received a check to their victorious Alliance' Shield career at Fir Park, Motherwell, last night, when the Lanarkshire reserves ran out winners two clear goals.

Aberdeen A played a stranger at right back in place of Jackson, held in reserve for to-day 's match at Pittodrie.
Two minutes after the start Motherwell took the lead when Moffat slipped the ball forward to Wylie, who beat the visitors' 'keeper easily.
Aberdeen were finding it difficult to make headway against a stiff breeze, with the result that Cumming was constantly in action. He stopped all manner of shots in a clean-cut and decisive manner. The Dons' defence was hard pressed on several occasions, but succeeded in resisting further downfall until the interval.
On resuming Aberdeen attacked strongly, but could not penetrate the Motherwell rear lines.

Second Reverse.

Smart play the Motherwell forwards carried play to the other end, where Wylie put Motherwell ahead after five minutes' play.
Aberdeen kept pegging away, but their finishing was poor.
During a raid on Motherwell territory Donald was injured and retired to the touch-line for repairs. His return saw the home 'keeper turn a shot from Robertson past the post for an unproductive corner.

Warnock's Lapse.

Aberdeen were now playing strongly, and Warnock shot weakly against the Motherwell 'keeper when it seemed easier to score.
Aberdeen were more than holding their own, but continued to finish poorly. Motherwell deserved their victory in a stern encounter.
The Pittodrie reserves are due at Tynecastle to-day, also in the Alliance Shield competition.
