Goals Galore At Airdrie

Young Dons Find Scoring Easy.

Aberdeen "A" romped home by six clear goals in their Alliance game with Airdrie "A" at Broomfield. Armstrong scored four goals.

Even play marked the beginning, and Harrison all but beat Cumming with a shot for the far post. A foul was given Aberdeen thirty yards out; Donald took the kick and the ball sailed into the net.
With superior halves and backs, Aberdeen had much the better of the game, Johnston, Robertson and Armstrong making a fine combination. Airdrie latterly came into the game, a try by Black missing by inches. Another shot by Bertram was a scorer but for a timely clearance by Jackson on the goal line. At this period the sound defence of Aberdeen was in evidence and turned play back to Morrison's goal, where there was some desultory shooting.
Near half-time Johnston headed the ball to the centre and Armstrong netted. A minute later the centre added a third goal, beating Ross in a tackle.
The first Incident after the change-over was a miss by Armstrong when right through and a brilliant save by Cumming of a point-blank shot from Harrison.
After ten minutes' play Johnston shook off Ross in a long race and put over a good ball for Armstrong to position himself and put the ball into the net and register his own third goal. From that time on the Airdrie side were practically submerged, and it was no surprise when Robertson was on the spot to complete leading up work by his partner, Johnston.
Two minutes later, also off a Johnston cross, Armstrong scored a sixth goal.
