Aberdeen A had an easy passage into the third round of the Scottish Second Eleven Cup, Ayr's reserve string proving no match for the young Dons on Saturday.
Right from the start the home forwards took the game in hand, and after a minute's play McKenzie shot the opening goal from Dickie's pass. This encouraged the Dons, and Merrie and David added further goals in quick succession.
Injuries to the left half Muir and goalkeeper Graham further disorganised the visiting forces. Aberdeen were definitely on top, and before the interval Merrie added two further goals to complete his hat-trick.
Ayr were at full strength in the second half, but several players were out of position, and they were absolutely outclassed.
Merrie and Hickie scored further goals for the homesters, and after Livingstone had scored from a penalty for Ayr, McKenzie, Hickie, and David (twice) brought the Dons' total up to eleven.
