Aberdeen 'A' Triumph

Perth Saints Put Up a Plucky Fight.

About 1500 spectators saw Aberdeen Reserves gain a fairly easy win over St Johnstone "A" in the first round of the Scottish Second XI. Cue competition.
The visitors put a grand fight and opened the scoring, but Aberdeen's superior craft told its tale in the long run, the homesters triumphing by seven goals to one.
David, the centre forward, had the distinction of netting four of his team's total. Stewart, the Perth leader, almost counted twice in the opening minutes, Cumming saving smartly on one occasion.
Subsequent exchanges favoured the home team and they did everything but score. On two occasions the woodwork saved the visitors, Smith striking the post and David the crossbar.
To the consternation of the homesters, the Saints opened the scoring in their next raid. Caul being the marksman.
So determined were the Aberdeen attacks that the Perth team were desperately put to it to keep their goal intact. Luck stayed them until near the interval when David netted twice to give the Pittodrie men the lead.

Soon after the resumption Warnock fastened on to a partial clearance by the Perth keeper to increase the home total. The Saints were completely outplayed during this period, and fifteen minutes after the restart David secured a fourth goal.
Burke netted a very smart point when he accepted a Warnock cross and banged the ball into the net.
The visitors had only one dangerous raid, and Cumming had to deal with a shot from Stewart (J.).
Warnock and David were responsible for Aberdeen's sixth and seventh goals.
