After putting up a creditable fight for three-quarters of the game, the Aberdeen "A" defence collapsed in the latter stages of the Alliance game with St Mirren A at Paisley, and in the end the Pittodrie team was beaten by 5 goals to 2. In an even first half scoring was delayed until near the interval, when Walker, the ex-Dunblane junior, gave St Mirren the lead for Moir to quickly equalise, and the teams crossed over on level terms.
In the second half Grant gave Aberdeen a short-lived lead, Walker equalising for the home team. For a lengthy period the game was keenly contested, and the exchanges were even, but later the home team was responsible for most of the pressure, and after Barclay had given them the lead, McIntosh scored in quick succession. The margin of victory greatly flattered the home team, and the defeat was entirely due to lapses by the Aberdeen defence.
