Miserable weather conditions affected the "gate" at Links Park, Montrose, last night, when "Jackie" Morrison, the club's right-back, took his benefit.
Aberdeen provided the opposition, and in the first minutes took the lead through Merrie, who scored from the rebound of a hot shot which he sent in to Salter. McLean crossed beautifully for Finnie to equalise 15 minutes later, and then Beedie put the home team ahead when Yuill, the Aberdeen custodian, had not got back between his uprights after clearing his linos. Off a corner Merrie equalised, and a cross from the right was placed by Yorston to Haughney's foot for the inside left to give the Dons the lead.
Play slackened off during the second half, but the "Gable Endies" had several good tries, whilst Salter saved numerous likely shots. He was beaten, however, by a Yorston-Merrie run along the left wing, when the latter completed his "hat trick" to give the Dons a 4-2 victory.
