Booth Boosts Young Dons

It's all happening these days for Aberdeen youth goalkeeper Kevin Morgan. Shortly after returning from an under-17 international tournament in Holland, the young 'keeper found himself making his Premier Reserve League debut against Hearts at Pittodrie earlier this month. Kevin's big chance came thanks to Theo Snelders' absence with Holland's World Cup squad and the consequent call-ups for Michael Watt and Derek Stillie as first-team 'keeper and substitute respectively, against Partick Thistle at Firhill, but the youngster made the most of his opportunity by giving an impressive performance in the young Dons 3-1 victory.

The Aberdeen line-up again had an experienced look with Graham Watson, Brian Grant, David Winnie, Neil Cooper, Scott Booth, Andy Gibson, Theo Ten Caat and Scott Thomson all in action, but the younger school also made positive contributions to this, the young Dons third successive Premier Reserve win.
Apart from Morgan's good work in goal, Hugh Robertson and Derek Adams both maintained their recent fine form and the ;ormer figured on the scoresheet. With Adams passing up an early scoring chance and Winnie having a "goal" chalked off for offside, Aberdeen had to depend for their interval lead on a spectacular strike by Gibson direct from a free kick awarded for a foul on Adams.
Hearts equalised following a corner kick early in the second half, but then had a player sent off for a second booking and the Young Dons made the most of their numerical superiority. Gibson headed them into re ead from a Booth cross and Robertson clinched both points by scoring at the second attempt after his first try was blocked.
