St. Mirren 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Scott Wright almost opened the scoring after only 18 seconds, latching on to Dylan Thomas? excellent through ball before firing narrowly wide.

A poor pass in midfield gave home striker Morgan an opening but he hurried his shot firing high and wide. Good play in the middle of park by Thomas created a chance for Nuttall but his shot was deflected narrowly wide for a fruitless corner.

Dangana was booked on the quarter hour mark for a challenge on Morrison which resulted in the Saints man being stretchered off, Fawkes the replacement.

Aberdeen were forcing the pace with Thomas prominent in midfield but the opening half hour came and went with neither keeper being forced to make a save although McAllister should have done better for the home side when given the chance to shoot from 18 yards, his shot pulled wide of the left hand post.

Flanagan came close in the 32nd minute jinking in from the left wing before shooting into the sidenet. The same player then forced a fine save from Lennox at his near post as Saints turned up the heat on the Dons defence.
Aberdeen showed their threat on the break when Wright raced away following a long Lennox clearance but Orsi?s shot was blocked for a corner. The Saints defence didn?t deal with the flag kick properly but when the ball fell to
Orsi at the corner of the six yard box big Kalvin?s shot flew high over the bar.

Keeper Willison produced a flying save to tip over an excellent Dylan Thomas volley after a nice cross from Wright but the first half ended goal-less despite some enterprising play from both sides.

St Mirren made their second substitution two minutes into the second period McGrath coming on for striker Morgan.

On 57 minutes O?Keefe came off as Saints used their final substitute, McLear coming on. Shortly afterwards Paul Sheerin introduced Lewis Hutcheson who replaced David Dangana.

Neither side was making much impression as passes went astray in midfield. Sub McGrath tried his luck from 25 yards but his shot went wide.

Lukas Culjak was the second Aberdeen player booked on 67 minutes for a foul 25 yards out but Saints couldn?t capitalise from the free kick.

The Dons produced a slick piece of first time passing to feed the ball out to Hutcheson but the youngster?s curling effort from the edge of the box was just too high.

On 73 minutes Orsi came off to be replaced by Dean Campbell. A flashpoint four minutes later ? Wright appeared to be fouled at the edge of the area but nothing was given. Full back Stewart then got into a shoving match with the Dons winger, followed by Nuttall and Beattie tussling as tempers threatened to boil over. Referee Brown decided to calm matters by giving yellow cards to Nuttall, Beattie and Wright.

On 81 minutes St Mirren broke the deadlock when McGrath cut inside from the left to fire past Lennox from the edge of the area.

Sam Robertson ? the older Sam ? came on for his namesake and almost made an impact immediately cutting the ball back perfectly for Nuttall to hit but the big striker fired wide.

The former Manchester City striker came even closer as the game moved into stoppage time, Willison producing a superb reflex save to prevent Joe?s header finding the net.

However the Dons were not to be denied and Scott Wright showed great coolness to pick his spot in the back of the net after the ball broke to him around the penalty spot.

After losing out to late goals in their last two matches, and in a number of games this season, fate this time smiled on Paul Sheerin?s team as the last gasp strike went in their favour.

Over the piece an entertaining game and a share of the spoils just about the right result.
