A Draw To Wind Up

Aberdeen A Hard Pressed at Rugby Park.

Aberdeen "A" with a large representation of the Pittodrie first team, wound up their Alliance League programme with draw at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock, on Saturday.

Aberdeen were the first to attack, and within six minutes were a goal up. Beattie caught a hesitant Killie defence napping, and netted from close range from a cross from the left. A strong reply by the home men produced the equaliser two minutes later, Kenmuir heading in a lob from Williamson.
Later Robertson ran through, the Killie defence evidently expecting him to be pulled up for offside, and had no difficulty scoring.
On resuming Kilmarnock continued their attack, but the Aberdeen defence was never unduly exerted and they repelled all advances. Confident appeals by the home team for a penalty against a defender for handling were refused and following this Turner missed a chance to equalise by positioning himself badly.
In an Aberdeen raid, a hard drive by Beattie was brilliantly saved by Bell. An injury which Mills received in the first half necessitated his removal to outside left, Mooney taking the inside left position.
Kilmarnock were definitely on top towards the end and, with nine minutes to go, clever work by Beattie of Kilmarnock ended in Turner equalising from a Kelvin cross.
