Aberdeen 0 - 1 Hibernian

The Young Dons should have got a point from Hibs Reserves and with any luck might have given the visitors their first defeat. The Edinburgh players are a good side and play with that confidence that comes only with continued success. The goal against the dons was one of those unfortunates lips when a pass back to the goalkeeper was intercepted.

HIBERNIAN " A " are still unbeaten in the Scottish " C Division, but they were a trifle lucky on Saturday, when they beat the Young Dons 1-0 at Pittodrie.

The vital goal was a Christmas present from the Aberdeen defence, it came as a result of hesitation on the part of McKenzie and McKeown. When McKeown eventually did go for the ball his pass back went away from the 'keeper and Souness had no difficulty in sending into an open goal.
Apart from this, good though they were in the outfield, Hibs seldom had Martin's charge in trouble.
Kerr was the busier of the two 'keepers, and had the Aberdeen attack functioned as a unit they might have succeeded in reversing the result.
As it was, McIntyre was a solitary raider in the middle, the only support coming from the extreme wingers. Tommy Pearson, the best of the home forwards, and Lamont (Kilbirnie Ladeside), whose display on the right wing was distinctly promising.
Stenhouse had a bright spell early in the game, but faded out.
There could be no complaint from the forwards about the service from behind. Robb kept the left wing pair liberally supplied with the ball and, though less conspicuous, Chalmers rarely wasted a ball.
Freddy Martin seems to have made a complete recovery from his hand injury. He had a good game and no blame could be attached to him for the loss of the goal.
