Lawrie Saves A Penalty

After putting up a very fine fight., Aberdeen Reserves had to knuckle under to Queen's Park Strollers at Hampden by the odd goal in five. Assisted by a breeze, the Strollers had the better of the exchanges in the first half. Downs (2) and Leslie putting them three goals ahead at a comparatively early stage in the game. Towards the interval Aberdeen settled down, and it was no more than their due when Robertson counted with a splendid shot. In the second period the Pittodrie players made great efforts to make up the leeway, but chances were lost through their impetuosity at close quarters. Moir succeeded in obtaining a second goal, but although they pressed hard, the Aberdeen players were denied further success. In the closing stages the Strollers were awarded a penalty, and Lawrie effected a brilliant save. Shortly after the commencement Aberdeen A had to rearrange their side owing to an injury to Robertson. The latter went outside left, with as Duggins as partner, and Mutch crossed to inside-right.
