Reserves Still Unbeaten

The first half of the match between the Hibernians and Aberdeen was mostly in favour of the visitors, who led at the interval by a goal, scored by Wilson. On the change of ends the Hibernians had the better of the exchanges, but had to depend on a penalty against Grossert to open their account, Ritchie scoring. Thereafter goals were got by Macdonald for Aberdeen and by Cockburn for Hibernians. A draw was a good enough finish to a game in which there was little to raise enthusiasm.

The Aberdeen Reserve team did well to divide four goals with the Hibernian Reserves in a Scottish Reserve League game at Easter Road. The Hibs started strongly, and Gordon early hit the Aberdeen upright. Play was very fast but ragged, and neither team showed much combination. With Sutherland out of his goal, Cockburn lost a fine chance for the home team. After give-and-take play Aberdeen came away strongly, and Wilson gave them the lead. From then until the interval the Pittodrie reserves had much the better of the exchanges, and the home goalkeeper was kept busy, Mike Donald and Wilson having many good tries.

Early in the second half Ritchie equalised from a penalty kick. Following upon this Aberdeen again attacked with great determination, and Macdonald smartly beat two opponents to give them the lead from long range. Aberdeen were kept on the defensive after this, and, following upon a number of corners that fell to the Hibs, Cockburn obtained the equalising goal from 20 yards' range. This concluded the scoring, and closing stages were full of exciting passages. Best for Aberdeen reserves were Grosert, Lees, McCombie, Macdonald, McLaughlin, and Wilson, and for the Hibernian, Johnston, Wright, Young, McKay, and Gordon.
