Deveronvale 0 v 2 Aberdeen Princes Royal Park, Banff 7.45pm kick off

Aberdeen this evening travelled up to Banff to play against Highland league side Deveronvale in a Testimonial game for Mike McKenzie. Deveronvale are managed by Aberdeen FC Community coach Scott Anderson.
The Dons included Icelandic international Kári Árnason in the starting XI tonight. The defender is training with the Dons at the moment. Kári was a team mate of Chris Clark at Plymouth last season and has a very impressive CV.
In the first half there was little action of note. Scott Vernon had a couple of shots but neither troubled the goalkeeper. On 27 minutes Michael Paton might have done better when he was given an opening but the striker delayed his shot and the chance was gone. 
Árnason was strolling through the game and looked very impressive. Nicky Low was also having a good game.
At half time Craig Brown would have asked his players to raise the tempo a bit in the second half. They did that and got their rewards on 50 minutes. Rob Milsom played in a free-kick which Andrew Considine headed home.
On 58 minutes the Vale had a chance to equalise but the ball was cleared off the line.
The Dons were by now though going through the gears and on 65 minutes added a second. Peter Pawlett picked up the ball in the box and hit a strike through the keepers legs. That is now two goals in two games for Peter which is encouraging.
Shortly after the second goal Michael Paton and Scott Vernon were substituted and were replaced by Josh Magennis and Darren Mackie. On 70 minutes Kári Árnason came off to warm applause from the Aberdeen support in the crowd. He had a good game. The central defender was replaced by Youl Mawene.
On 74 minutes Foster came on for Chris Clark and four minutes later Jordon Brown came on Pawlett. Young Peter impressed in the second half. Aberdeen were continuing to dominate the game and Josh Magennis was looking particularly lively. The striker had a few shots on goal and had a header which cannoned off the bar.
In the closing stages Chris Mountford came on as a substitute for the home side. Chris also works at Pittodrie in the football department. He will be busy in the next few weeks as Craig Brown continues to try and bring in new players before the season's opener. The Dons are in action tomorrow night in Inverurie where the other half of the squad will start. On Saturday afternoon they travel down to play Forfar and then a week today it is Darren Mackie's big night as Spanish giants Villarreal come to town. Please note this game now kicks off at 7.00pm
