Smart Win For Aberdeen 'A'

Two Goal Victory at Muirton

Aberdeen retained the leadership of the Alliance League by a smart win over St Johnstone reserves on Saturday. They are now a point ahead of Celtic "A," Motherwell "A," and Rangers "A."

Under the generalship of "Bob" Fraser, the Dons' skipper, the Aberdeen reserves won comfortably at Muirton. Their defence was solid and cool, compared with the home rear lines, while they also held an advantage in attack.

Clever Football

From the start there was much clever football. After Connell had cleared from Lang, the Aberdeen goal was lucky to escape when Johnstone was beaten by a shot from Bone. The ball, however, went narrowly past.
Four minutes from the interval the Young Dons went ahead. Smith sent in a hard, low ball which Connell failed to hold and Scott dashed in to score an easy goal.
St Johnstone "A" forced the pace on the resumption, and after Johnstone had brought down a shot from Simpson, Duncan brought the 'keeper to his knees with hard drive.

Caskie-Fraser Tussles

The Young Dons should have increased their lead when Fraser sent Scott through, but the centre sent weakly behind. The Young Dons were playing with greater power now, due mainly to Fraser's scheming, and in the course of an Aberdeen raid Connell saved brilliantly from Lang.
The Young Dons went further ahead through Warnock, who found the net after clever work on the left. A feature of the game were the tussles between Gaskie and Fraser.
